Protein profiling analysis, also known as shotgun proteomics, systematically examines all protein expression, functions, and interactions within biological samples. The objective of protein profiling analysis is to identify as many proteins as possible within a sample. This is achieved by lysing, digesting, and separating protein samples, followed by detecting and identifying the separated peptide segments using high-resolution mass spectrometry. This process enables the determination of the proteins present in the sample. Protein profiling analysis permits the identification of all proteins within a sample, allowing for the simultaneous identification of hundreds to thousands of proteins.
